Spaceloop Payload Engineer

Orbitare Luxembourg SA is seeking an engineer with passion for Space and willing to make an impact on society. As part of our Spaceloop development team, you will craft a leading-edge satellite communication network that will transform the way satellite communications are used today. As a Payload Engineer, you will lead the development and verification in-orbit of the communication system for our In-Orbit Demonstration mission as a steppingstone into the commercial system.
This position requires someone familiar will all aspects of digital communications, with knowledge of space environment and space systems, who thrives in a dynamic cross-functional organization which includes several first-class partners, is not afraid to debate ideas openly, and is flexible enough to pivot on constantly evolving requirements. ..
Your tasks will be::
  • Integrating in a team of one PHY development engineer, one network engineer and the project manager working with deliberately low differentiation of responsibilities but rather clear targets
  • Ensuring the compliance with the project schedule milestones, generating and agreeing with the team on the lower level task organization and scheduling
  • Taking ownership of the communication system specification and the design development plan of Spaceloop
  • Taking responsibility over the system level architecture and design of the communications system, its development, integration and verification on-ground and in-orbit
  • Determining the quality of service targets, evaluating the performance of the system level design to such targets, and performing the necessary design loops
  • Leading the integration of the payload to the satellite and the satellite level verification tasks
  • Providing support to the launch and in-orbit commissioning campaign
  • Establishing and coordinating the IOD mission operations plan
  • Liaison with our partner suppliers of payload and satellite platform
  • Leading the frequency allocation process for both the IOD mission and the commercial operations.
You shall have the following professional qualifications:
  • A Master’s degree in Aerospace, Telecommunication Engineering, or equivalent field
  • Understanding of digital communication theory & signal processing (such as timing recovery, signal estimation and detection, automatic gain control, RF impairment estimation and correction, channel estimation, equalization, coding theory, etc.)
  • Experience in developing complex and multidisciplinary projects
  • Familiar with software development processes
  • Ability to make trade-offs to find the right compromise between risks and performance
  • Hands on experience on implementation on hardware, lab testing & performance characterization of digital communication systems
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for the simulation of digital communication systems is a plus
